Arriving at Rome's
airport knowing someone will be there to receive
you surely makes a difference!. Someone who'll
transfer you to your hotel in a nice and
comfortable car or minivan instead having to
line up for a taxi. Rome's airport is a
modern one, but it's really vast and rather
confusing. Arriving after a long flight, tired,
jetlagged and dragging your luggage, if you
haven't booked your transfer you'll have to
stress to find out the best way to get to your
hotel. The train is the least expensive
transportation apparently. It leaves every 30 minutes and gets
to Rome's central station "Termini" in about 40
minutes. The cost is 11 Euros per person. Once
at the station you'll have to drag your luggage
again all the way to a taxi and wait in line to
get in one. The taxi will charge 15/20 Euros (if
he's honest) to
take you to one of the hotels in the city
center. If everything goes well it'll take you
about 1.5/2 hours to reach
your hotel in and you'll spend
(for 4 people) about 60 Euros. For that price a
taxi would take you directly from the airport to
the door of your hotel in about 40 minutes. Certainly a better deal!
Taxis are white, but they are not all the same,
some are air-conditioned and some aren't. Some
taxi drivers speak English and some don't, some
are courteous and some aren't. Most are honest,
but some aren't. Booking your transfer with us
is a little more expensive than taking a taxi,
but you'll ride in a nice air-conditioned
vehicle (mostly we drive Mercedes: sedans,
minivans and minibuses) which has been sent to
the airport just for you. Our drivers are
courteous and speak at least enough English to
have a simple conversation with you. |

Transfers
to and from Rome's airport |
|
Arriving at Rome's
airports |
Rome's airport, Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) |
You'll be met at the airport upon
arrival of aircraft as you specified. After
collecting your luggage and clearing customs, you'll
be routed to the public lounge where throngs of
people wait for passengers to come out.
We cannot come and meet you in the baggage claim
area, where the carrousels are, youll have to exit
that area to meet us! Once in the
public lounge youll see your driver posting your
name. Make sure to have my cell phone number with
you, you never know what can happen in a crowded and
chaotic airport! Normally it takes about 40 minutes
from the time when the plane lands until you
actually get to the public lounge. If you see that
it will take longer, for example if your luggage is
lost or simply takes a long time for it to come out,
please call me from one of the public phones, or
better from your own cell phone, or ask the customs
officer to let you come out for a second to tell
your driver you have arrived you'll be late.
If you call from your cell,
please make sure it can also receive calls and
caller's ID is visible so that I can call you back
if necessary. We normally start getting
restless after 45 minutes and we don't wait any
longer than one hour from planes landing time.
We have no way of knowing if
you were actually on the flight or if you missed it
for some reason and that is why after one
hour or so we give up hope and leave.
If we know that you are there we will
wait for you, but we'll also charge you for waiting.
One hour past plane's landing time you'll be charged
20 Euros per hour for waiting. From any Italian
public or cell phone you just dial 3377832255, but
if you carry a cell phone registered outside of
Italy you also need to dial the country code +39 so
the whole sequence should be: 00393377832255 (or
+393377832255).From cell phones registered in the US
or Canada you have to dial 001 or +1 first and so
the sequence is: 001393377832255 (or
+1393377832255). If, though you carry with you your
cell phone from the US or Canada, the name of a
local carrier appears on your display (Vodafone,
Tim, Wind, 3-ITA etcetera), you can dial just my
cell phone directly without any of the international
prefixes: 3358437636. |

Rome's seaport, Civitavecchia |
You'll find the car or minivan, right
on the pier where the ship docks, parked as close as
possible to the footbridge (gangplank), with your
name posted on its windshield.
If parking close to the footbridge (gangplank)
shouldn't be possible, we'll be standing there
posting your name.
You can always contact me on my cell phone, from any

Sorrento viewed from the sea |
Tourists often forget they come all
the way here to enjoy this place and relax. For many
people fast is best. They say it only takes a
couple of hour to go to Florence from Rome by train.
Not considering that they have leave their hotel one
hour prior to train departure to be at the station
at least half early. Then, once reach their
destination, they have to find a taxi to take them
to their hotel. By car, we cover that distance in
three hours. A common objection is that I charge
more than the train. I agree, for two or three
people it would be a lot more expensive, yet much
more enjoyable, but how about a larger group of
people? It's very common for 4/6 people to travel
together: and I do not think the trip by train would
be any cheaper for them. Considering the taxis in
both cities, when you can't find one big enough for
you and your luggage you have to use two taxis, and
first-class train tickets (you dont want to travel
second class, do you?) I think in such case Im
pretty competitive. |

Rome's train station, Termini |
Arriving at the station, just as you
come down from the train, please walk to the end of
the platform. Your driver
will be waiting for you where your train pulls in
posting your name. You should simply come down from
your train's car and walk towards the head of the
train until you see the person.
If any problems
should occur please call me. From any Italian
public or cell phone you just dial 3377832255, but

Italy you also need to dial the country code +39 so

We have no way of knowing if
you were actually on the train or if you missed it
for some reason therefore after all the passengers
have descended from the train we leave the station.
Instead if you're being picked from
your hotel to be transferred to the train station,
your driver will simply announce himself at the
concierge's desk. |
