all’estremità orientale del Golfo del Tigullio, è considerata non a torto la città
dei due mari: un piccolo istmo di sabbia ha infatti permesso la costruzione di alcune
caratteristiche case, unendo alla terraferma quella che una volta era un’isola vera e
propria. Ciò ha creato la incantevole “Baia del Silenzio”, la “Baia delle
Favole” e due spiagge sabbiose molto belle.
Sestri Levante vanta grosse tradizioni nella pesca, nei commerci via mare,
nell’agricoltura ormai purtroppo ridimensionata. Ha un vasto entroterra circondato
dalle valli Gromolo e Petronio, un tempo conosciute per le importanti attività estrattive
legate al minerale di Rame; oggi sono più rinomate per le bellezze naturalistiche, per la
possibilità di passeggiate a piedi e a cavallo, di escursioni in mountain bike. Nei
dintorni (Riva Trigoso, S. Anna, Moneglia) è possibile praticare l’arrampicata
sportiva; e poi il mare, questo grande protagonista.
Il “LEUDO” simboleggia la grande tradizione marinara, le spiagge sono tranquille
e accoglienti, i diving permettono la scoperta di bellissimi fondali che conservano
numerosi relitti.
Located on the east side of the Tigullian Gulf, Sestri Levante is rightly called “the
city of the two seas” since a small sandy isthmus, with a few characteristic houses,
links this resort, which once was an island, to the mainland.
The picturesque “Baia del
Silenzio” (Bay of Silence) and “Baia delle Favole” (Bay of Fairy Tales)
were therefore created together with two marvellous beaches. Sestri Levante has a
long-standing tradition in fishing, seafaring and agricultural activities, although the
latter has been rather scaled down. Its vast hinterland is surrounded by the Gromolo and
Petronio valleys, once well known for the copper mines in this area. They are now famous
for their beautiful nature where you can walk, go horseriding and mountain biking.
Sports climbing can also be practised from Riva Trigoso, S. Anna and Moneglia.
“LEUDO” stands for the seafaring tradition, the beaches are comfortable and
relaxing; diving will allow you to discover the beautiful sea bottom still sheltering many
wrecks.
Liegt am östlichen Ende des Tigullischen Golfs und trägt zu Recht den Namen “Stadt
der zwei Meere”: Auf einer schmalen Landzunge aus Sand stehen charakteristische
Häuser, die die einstige Insel mit dem Festland verbinden.
Auf diese Weise entstanden die
zauberhafte “Bucht des Schweigens”, die “Märchenbucht” und zwei
wunderschöne Sandstrände. Sestri Levante darf sich einer grossen Tradition in der
Fischerei, im Handel auf dem Meereswege, in der mittlerweile leider zurückgegangenen
Landwirtschaft rühmen. Sein weitläufiges Hinterland ist von den Tälern Gromolo und
Petronio umgeben, die einst wegen ihrer blühenden Tätigkeit im Bereich der
Kupfergewinnung bekannt waren, heute eher wegen ihrer Naturschönheiten und der
Möglichkeit, zu Fuss, mit dem Pferd oder dem Mountainbike Ausflüge zu machen.
In der Umgebung (Riva Trigoso, S. Anna, Moneglia) kann man sich im Sportklettern üben,
und das Meer, das alles beherrscht, ist überall gegenwärtig. Das “LEUDO”
(typisch ligurisches Boot) symbolisiert die grossen Meerestraditionen, die Strände sind
ruhig und behaglich, beim Tauchen kann man die wunderschönen Wassergründe erforschen,
auf denen noch zahlreiche Wracks ruhen.!
