( INTERNATIONAL MARTIAL ARTS FEDERATION OF THE DEAF )

For although Japanese and Korean Sports, Judo & Karate and Taekwondo are originated from China, they enjoy an international place and the development is rapid.

The First World Judo & Karate Championships of the Deaf was held in Tokyo, Japan in October 6th/7th 1979, it was the first time to hold a world contest in the history of japanese society of the deaf and the contest was sponsored by participating countries in turn afterwards;
The Second WJKC of the deaf was held in Dunkerque, France in 1982;
The Third contest was held in Mexico City in 1985;
The Fourth contest was held in Rimini, Italy in 1987 and the Fifth WJKC was held in Tokyo, Japan in 1989 for the occasion of the 10 years anniversary.
The sixth WJKC was prepared to be held in Gujan Mestras nearest Bordeaux, France in July 4th-7th 1991, it was halten due to political problem incurring furios blame of the representatives of varoius countries and to select from Taiwan, Taipei for the Seventh WJKC in 1993;
The Eighth WJKC was held in Miami, Florida from U.S.A after IMAFD congress has selected the new disciplines sector of Taekwondo's korean sport olympic in which this are becomed 3 divers disciplines : Judo, Karate and Taekwondo in which from Trondheim, Norway in July 4th-6th, 1997for the Ninth WJCTC congress that has accepted to open also an other martial art of the Kung Fu / Wushu for the 10th World championships for the best development organization.
