Mother Water, Father Earth,
Thank you for the flesh and blood that were my house while here with you
For the presents made at birth
Trees to shade me from the heat and for the cold firewood and wool
Harbours safe to be at berth
Though I stood firm to bite much more than I could chew
Mother Water, Father Earth,
Time has come for me to go
Here today and since tomorrow flees
I want to sing like birds sing
Want to roar as gales do through the trees
And sail through seas on full wind
Like a geyser I’ll shoot up so proud
In a straight line
In the nick of time as light goes down
I’ll laugh as loud as wine
Mother Water, Father Earth,
Now it’s time for me to go
Let me once again stand guard tonight
Like stars watch skies as Earth spins
Let me dance just like the butterfly
Flash colors bright on my wings
If there’s left yet one more peak to climb
I will go there
In the nick of time as skies turn dark
I’ll leave my mark on air
