After having traversed the Libyan desert, he succeeded in traversing the Canal of Sicily and landed on the shores of Lampedusa on Aug. 8, 2004. He has been at Brothre Biagio's center for months and is waiting to receive recognition of his refugee status from the Italian authorities.
