The version depicted here is the G24, a more powerful version (restriction were usually circumvented by moving the airplane to Sweden were more powerful engines were swapped in), in its seaplane version. The G23/G24 was built between 1925 and 1929 and a lot of different engine versions became available during that time. It became the backbone of the German air transport industry during the second half of the twenties. This design was adapted to a lot of different versions (including a military one for the Soviet Union). All in all, a very successful design: the G24 set a lot of records, including a 20000km Luft Hansa expedition (Berlin to Peking) in 1926, and was in widespread use all around the world. |
