Claudia Martin was born in Venice, Italy. She started playing piano at the early age of 5, dedicating the first 10 years of her studies to classical music.
She was introduced to many other styles of music in her teens, which resulted in her passion for jazz singing and dancing.

At 17, while already performing as a singer in several local venues and clubs, Claudia studied music at the "Dizzy Gillespie School" in Bassano, Italy.
She also attended the "Berklee School of Music" and "Manhattan School of Music" workshops in Italy, which afforded her the opportunity to study with such prominent teachers as Bob Stoloff and Sheila Jordan. Other teachers she has worked with include Mark Murphy, Jay Clayton and Enrica Bacchia, an established Italian singer who helped Claudia develop an appreciation of Brazilian music, an extension of her big love for jazz.

Claudia has developed her own eclectic personal style by exploring many musical genres, and by performing live in Italy, leading her own groups. First, she formed the band "Freetime", performing the music of Incognito and Chaka Khan. Soon after, she formed the "Claudia Martin Acoustic Band," and the "Claudia Martin Electric Band," performing the music of Incognito, Chaka Khan, Sade and Lisa Stansfield. She also performed with Brazilian bands, singing in Portoguese.

Claudia arrived in New York in 1997, and immediately began working as a singer and as a model. She also became a full time dance student at the City Center. Not discouraged by the toughness of the business and cultural differences, Claudia has worked diligently ever since, growing as an artist while building a solid image of professionalism and trust. She has performed all over the United States, recorded with many producers and is currently writing and recording her own material.

Her latest demo of songs, some of which can be heard on this website, was produced by multi-instrumentalist Barry Hartglass, and features singer Curtis Jones (Slave, Aura, Deja), keyboardist Monte Moir ("The Time" with Morris Day), drummer/percussionist Dave Anthony (Glen Burtnik, Broadway's "Movin' Out"), drummer Kevin Hupp (John Oates, Rufus Wainwright, Joan Osbourne) and multi-instrumentalist/composer Tom Nazziola (Disney's "Baby Einstein").

Very soon, and for the first time, Claudia Martin will be performing her original music live in New York City. Claudia has been described as an elegant, glamorous and evocative performer. Her emotional and highly personal lyrics sung in both English and Italian, are guaranteed to draw you in. Be sure to see and hear her exotic, passionate mix of Acid Jazz, Brazilian, R&B, Electronica, and Retro/Pop stylings live in New York this coming Fall.
